My name is Amanda D’Amico.
“Amico” is “friend” in Italian and I accept the role with great joy and responsibility. So, let’s be friends! The more the merrier. Come on in :-)
I love both the stage and the screen. But, I would be remiss not to mention that my first love was singing in the choir. I was a choir kid all of middle school and throughout high school. It wasn’t until my first year of high school that I decided to audition for my first musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I was cast as Marigold Coneybear. Now, if you’re familiar with the show, you might be thinking, “That’s not a character in the show. That is a moment of audience participation.” (Dear reader, you would be correct) They put a folding chair downstage left facing away from the audience and when Chip notices Marigold in the audience, prompting the one and only “My Unfortunate Erection,” I turned to the audience and smiled. And I couldn’t have been happier to be there.
I was hooked then and there, going on to pursue my BA in Musical Theatre at the University of New Hampshire. I studied acting, voice, dance, playwriting, directing, and American Sign Language, among other things. I got to portray Alice Murphy in Bright Star and Veronica Sawyer in Heathers, and others. Being on the Seacoast, I was also able to audition and perform at nearby Regional Theaters while in college. Notable roles include Julia Sullivan in The Wedding Singer, and Jeanie in HAIR.
I am a 2020 graduate of UNH. And, I am proud of the momentum I have been able to maintain, even if at times it felt as though I was moving through the mud. I moved to New York City in October of 2020, meeting the city wearing a mask. I spent time navigating day-jobs, writing new scripts, and standing in long lines to get my weekly Covid test.
With live theatre being nearly impossible to maintain prevailing safety regulations, I set my sights towards the world of film. I worked and learned on any sets I could get on. I wrote and produced my own work, and began producing the work of dear friends. Since then, I have excitedly made my Network TV debut on ep.811 of Investigation Discovery’s Evil Lives Here as Young Christina (Lead). I am also happy to report that our series pilot, Overstimulated, was 1 of 11 selected to compete for Best Independent Pilot at Series Fest in Denver, CO.
I went to my first NYC in-person theatre audition in January of 2022 which landed me aboard Disney Cruise Line by June of that year. I spent 1 month of rehearsal in Toronto and 6 months performing in the Mainstage Cast onboard the Disney Dream, portraying characters such as Snow White, Belle, Rapunzel, and Aurora.
You can otherwise find me alongside my partner in both life and music, Kyle Lacy. Together we work for Cafe Wha, a historic music venue and entertainment group in the West Village, playing Weddings and Private Events. And if you’re in the neighborhood on a Saturday night, you might find us onstage at Club Groove singing until the wee hours of the nights.
Anyhow, that’s some of it. Please do connect and, dare I say, become a friend. I’d love to chat, collaborate, or maybe even paint a watercolor for you.
With a lot of love,
Amanda
